Notifications

There are a number of different types of notifications that the portal generates for users to view. Most of these notifications are hosted in the portal itself, but there is also an option to send some notifications to external devices as part of certain feature sets like Alerts.

The visible notifications system exists to inform users of the activity of their Assets in Live Mode and History Mode. The color-coded notifications display whenever there are new Positions, Alerts, Events, Statuses, Chats, and Device Messages. They can be found in the List Panel in summary view, and in the Details panel for expanded view.

Notification Boxes in List Panel

Next to each Asset and Group, below the name, there are five notification boxes. They will appear either lit with a color or greyed out if there are no new notifications of that type.

  • Position Notifications - Green Position Notifications tell portal users that the Asset has reported a new position as part of its standard reporting interval.
  • Alert Notifications - Orange Alert Notifications occur when an Asset’s user manually sends an Alert from the device, or when the portal’s Alert triggers are met by the Asset’s normal activity reports.
  • Emergency Notifications - Red Emergency Notifications are critical alerts.
  • Event Notifications - Purple Event Notifications vary by device type and can include safety check-ins manually initiated by the Asset user to a number of sensor-related events.
  • Status Notifications - Yellow Status Notifications will come from devices or sensors that work to monitor specific things such as fuel level, tire pressure, and other diagnostic information for a connected Asset.
  • Chat Notifications - Blue For devices that support two-way messaging, all chats from that Asset will trigger this notification.
  • Message Notifications - Blue For devices that support special commands and over-the-air message configurations, notifications for that messaging activity will also appear blue.
